  • Device Data includes a unique device identifier when you use our mobile application. This identifier is generated by your device and is used solely to enable our app's core functionality, such as syncing your cartoons across app sessions and managing your account. We do not use this identifier for tracking purposes or associate it with other websites or services.
  • Photo Data includes photos you choose to upload for cartoon generation.
  • Generation Data includes the cartoon style, generation instructions, and related request information needed to create your cartoon.
  • Technical Data includes internet protocol (IP) address, browser type and version, time zone setting and location, operating system and platform and other technology on the devices you use to access this website.
  • Usage Data includes information about how you use our website and services.

3. Photo and Facial Data Handling

Important: We want to be completely transparent about how we handle photos and facial data:

  • No Facial Data Storage: We do not store, retain, or use any facial recognition data or biometric information extracted from your photos. Our cartoon creation process does not involve analyzing, storing, or cataloging facial features.
  • Temporary Photo Processing: Photos you upload are used solely for the purpose of creating cartoon versions. Once your cartoon is generated, the original photo is immediately deleted from our servers.
  • No Photo Retention: We do not maintain a library or database of user photos. Each photo is processed once and then permanently removed.
  • Automated Deletion: Photo deletion is automated and occurs immediately after cartoon generation is complete.

4. AI Processing and Third-Party Providers

Cartoonie uses OpenAI, LLC as a third-party AI processing provider to create cartoons from photos you choose to upload.

When you request a cartoon, we send the following information to OpenAI for the purpose of generating your cartoon:

  • The photo you selected for cartoon generation.
  • The cartoon style and generation instructions needed to create the requested cartoon.
  • Technical request information needed to securely transmit and process the request.

We do not send your name, email address, payment information, device identifier, or account credentials to OpenAI for cartoon generation. OpenAI processes the photo and generation instructions only to provide the AI image generation service to Cartoonie.

We require third-party service providers that process personal data for Cartoonie, including OpenAI, to protect that data with privacy and security protections that are the same as or equal to the protections described in this policy, and to process the data only for the services they provide to us.

Cartoonie does not sell your personal data, use uploaded photos for advertising tracking, or create biometric identifiers or facial recognition templates from your photos.

5. How We Use Your Personal Data

We will only use your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To communicate with you about our services.
  • To enable the proper functioning of our application, including using device identifiers to manage your account, sync your created cartoons, and provide a seamless experience across app sessions.
  • To create cartoons from photos and styles you choose, including sending the selected photo and generation instructions to OpenAI for AI processing.
  • To store generated cartoons in your account so you can view and access them later unless you delete them or request deletion.
  • Device identifiers are used exclusively for app functionality and are never shared with third parties or used for advertising or tracking purposes.

6. Data Security

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorized way, altered or disclosed.

Under certain circumstances, you have rights under data protection laws in relation to your personal data, including the right to request access, correction, erasure, restriction, transfer, or to object to processing.
